Aston Villa owner Tony Xia has promised the supporters on Twitter that they will taste silverware as soon as possible.

The Chinese businessman purchased the Midlands outfit last June after they suffered a humiliating relegation to the Championship after recording only 17 points in England’s top tier.

Xia appointed former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo as the manager but sacked him after 11 games in charge with Steve Bruce taking over the reigns.

He was unable to help the club make an instant return to the Premier League, but since purchasing the club Xia has made some bold comments about where he wants Villa to be down the line.

The outspoken owner has previously made it clear that he wants his side to be a top six Premier League club within the next ten years.

When a Villa supporter stated that he would like Xia to succeed in the short-term rather than the long-term, the Villa chief issued this response.

“I would like to push it faster,” Xia wrote on his personal Twitter account. “If we can make it in fewer years, I promise you can kiss the trophy.”

More than likely, Villa fans would first like to see the club make a return to the promise land, but they will have to make a significant improvement from the recently concluded campaign if they are to achieve that goal.

Bruce’s side finished outside of the top ten, recorded 62 points from their 46 matches which meant that they finished 18 points adrift of sixth-placed Fulham, this despite Villa being the big spenders of the second tier.
