Newcastle are in the running to sign Swansea striker Fernando Llorente, according to the latest betting odds.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have priced the 32-year-old at 5/1 to make a switch from the Liberty Stadium to St James’ Park before September 3.

English Premier League champions Chelsea (4/1) are leading the chase for the highly-experienced Spaniard.
Llorente joined the Swans last summer when he made the switch from La Liga outfit Sevilla.

He quickly became embroiled in a relegation battle with the Welsh club and by January he was already working under his third manager.

Paul Clement arrived at the club in January replacing American Bob Bradley, who was sacked from his managerial post.

Former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern assistant Clement helped Swansea survive relegation during the recently concluded campaign with Llorente playing a huge part in that success.

Over the course of the Premier League season, he scored 15 goals for his side, including four goals and one assist during his last five matches of the season.

During his career, Llorente has also played in Italy and Spain, including scoring 111 goals for Atheltic Bilbao.

Nonetheless, if he were to make a switch to Newcastle this summer then he would join a team that recently earned promotion to the first-tier of English football.
