Aston Villa are the favourites to sign Burnley winger George Boyd, according to the latest betting odds.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have priced the 31-year-old Premier League attacker at 6/4 to move down to the Championship before September 3.

Gary Rowett’s Derby County (4/1) and Villa’s Midlands rivals, Birmingham City (8/1) are the other teams on the betting list.

Boyd’s contract at Turf Moor is due to expire at the end of this month and the two-time Scotland international has not extended his stay in Lancashire.

As a result, it is now highly likely that he will be heading for the exit door this summer, with the Midlands a likely destination for the player.

Boyd was a regular member of Sean Dyche’s side last season, playing 36 Premier League matches and helping his team secure their safety in the top tier.

The former League Two player can operate on either wing, preferably on the right-hand side of attack and he is known for his hard work out wide.

If he were to join Steve Bruce’s side then he would challenge the likes of Albert Adomah, Jack Grealish, Birkir Bjarnason and Andre Green for a first-team spot on the wing.

During his career, Boyd has played 171 matches in the Championship, scoring 32 goals, supplying 38 assists, which have resulted in him winning two promotions.
