Rangers chairman Dave King has committed to giving manager Pedro Caixinha more funds to rebuild the current squad.

The Rangers chief has said that he will pledge more money to the boss for summer transfer signings after the club agreed a new retail deal with Sports Direct.

King said how important the Sports Direct deal was for the Gers and was quoted on the official website saying: “It’s massive for the club. The investment that we have had over the last couple of years hasn’t included any income from the retail operations whatsoever.

“It really is good news for the supporters and for the manager knowing that he will now have greater resources than he thought he had yesterday.”

During the interview the chairman revealed all of the transfer business the club had previously conducted was based on the fact that the Scottish club wouldn’t earn much from the sales of any replica kits.

However, now the new one-year agreement has been confirmed it will see Rangers receiving more profits and therefore more funds to spend on improving the squad.

Manager Pedro Caixihna has already had a busy first transfer window with the club and has made six signings so far, including Ryan Jack, Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Daniel Candeias, Dalcio and newest signing Alfredo Morelos.

The Portuguese manager is recruiting to ensure his squad is at strong as it can be for the club’s 2017/18 campaign, and the money boost from Dave King will be warmly welcomed.

Gers will be looking to snatch one of the three domestic titles from rivals, Celtic, who climbed to the top of the Scottish Premier League table 39 points clear of Caixinha’s team last season.
