West Ham are believed to be interested in signing Leicester forward Islam Slimani, according to a report.

The Express claim that the 28-year-old could be set to leave the King Power Stadium in the summer and the Hammers are thought to be keen on his signature.

It is understood that the Foxes will have a £100million exodus in the upcoming transfer window as several key players are moved on.

The report details that first teamers Slimani, Riyad Mahrez, Kasper Schmeichel, Ahmed Musa and Leanardo Ulloa are expected to find new clubs.

Slimani only moved to Leicester last summer in a club-record £29million deal from Sporting Lisbon.

The Algeria international has had a mixed first season in the Premier League and the Foxes fans have been mainly disappointed with his contributions.

The striker is a big physical presence and extremely dangerous in the air, but has failed to match the high intensity style of Leicester.

A spate of groin of injuries have seen him make just 28 appearances across all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying four assists in return.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic may be looking for a new forward in the summer as the attacking positions have been a problem area for him this campaign.

Versatile attacker Michail Antonio is the club’s top scorer with nine goals across all competitions and they can’t rely on injury-prone Andy Carroll for goals.

The Hammers fans may be sceptical about Slimani’s qualities after an underwhelming first season in English football, but he has certainly proven himself to be a clinical finisher over the years.

He scored 31 goals last season for Sporting in Portugal and also has 25 international goals under his belt for Algeria.
