Swiss club Servette have made an approach to try and sign Rangers flop Philippe Senderos, according to a report in the Daily Record.

The report claims that the 32-year-old has been offered the chance to relaunch his career in his home country after a miserable season in Glasgow.

Centre-back Senderos will officially leave the club when his contract expires at the end of this month after manager Pedro Caixinha decided to release him at the end of the season.

It is said that Senderos was on the shortlist to become Sporting Director at Grasshoppers Zurich, but he lost out on the post so Servette now want to sign him.

Senderos moved to Rangers last summer on a free transfer after his contract at Aston Villa had expired following their relegation to the second tier.

His career in Scotland began in the worst possible fashion after he was sent off during his side’s humiliating 5-1 defeat at the hands of Celtic.

At that time, Mark Warburton was in charge of the club, but he left his managerial post in February and joined English Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Nonetheless, since that Old Firm encounter, he only made three more appearances for the Gers and failed to play a single minute under Caixinha.

During his career, former FA Cup winner Senderos has played for the likes of Arsenal, Fulham, Everton, AC Milan and Aston Villa.
