Rangers have been installed as the joint favourites with Sunderland to sign Hibernian striker Jason Cummings this summer, according to the bookmakers Bet Victor.

The betting company have priced the Scottish giants and relegated Premier League club at 3/1 on Friday morning to capture the prolific front man before the transfer window slams shut on 4 September.

Rangers and Sunderland are well ahead in the betting of their closest rivals, with by Celtic and Championship club Leeds United both priced at 6/1, followed by English second-tier trio Derby (8/1), Barnsley and QPR (both 12/1).

Scotland Under-21 international Cummings, 21, has a contract with Hibs that runs until 2020 but that has not stopped strong speculation about the possibility of a summer transfer.

The forward has had an excellent season as the Edinburgh side stormed to the Scottish Championship title and secured promotion to next season’s Scottish Premiership.

The eight-times Under-21 international has scored 19 goals and provided six assists in 31 league appearances, while his 40 matches in all competitions have yielded an extremely impressive 23 goals.

By contrast, Rangers’ leading scorer in the league is Kenny Miller, who has 10 in the competition, followed by Joe Garner and Martyn Waghorn (six apiece) and attacking midfield pair Emerson Hyndman and Barrie McKay (four).
