Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho has travelled to London for a medical at West Ham, according to Own Goal Nigeria.

The Nigerian news outlet claims that the 20-year-old is expected cost the Hammers £24million, which would eclipse their current record signing of Andre Ayew for £20.5million from Swansea last year.

It is said that Man City will have the option to buy back the young attacker after two years.

Iheanacho has been on international duty with Nigeria and it is understood from Own Goal Nigeria’s inside source that he was at a training camp based in France when he got the nod to travel back to England.

”He left camp this morning with the permission of the coach. He is heading to London, so he won’t be part of our travelling party to Paris. Although we expect him to return before the game against Togo on the 1 June,” said the source.

Iheanacho has fell down the pecking order at Man City following the January arrival of Brazilian ace Gabriel Jesus.

With Sergio Aguero already at the Etihad, the eight-times Nigeria international struggled for game time and played just five league games after January – with none of them lasting more than 20 minutes.

Although most of Iheanacho’s appearances for City have come off the bench, he has still managed to score 21 goals in 61 appearances across all competitions for the Premier League giants.

West Ham are expected to be looking for new attacking options over the summer transfer window due to the injury problems endured by Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho over the course of the season.
