Aston Villa are keeping tabs on Lincoln midfielder Alex Woodyard, according to HITC.

The news website details that a number of clubs from England ‘s second and third tiers are eyeing a move for the 24-year-old central midfielder.

Midlands giants Aston Villa are said to be keeping a close eye on Woodyard as they look to rebuild their squad this summer in an attempt to make a push for promotion to the Premier League next season.

Meanwhile, newly-promoted side Bolton are also said to be keen to add him to their side, while League One duo Scunthorpe and Northampton are weighing up moves.

Young Woodyard was one of Lincoln’s standout stars this season as he helped the Imps win the National League alongside reaching the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

He featured in 52 matches in all competitions this campaign, scoring one goal while providing three from his position in the centre of the park and his displays saw him named Lincoln fans’ Player of the Year.

Steve Bruce has already added Conor Hourihane, Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason  to his central midfield ranks since his October appointment and he may now view Woodyard, who is out of contract next month as a possible new addition.
