Richard Gough has urged Rangers to sign Norwich midfielder Graham Dorrans in the summer and thinks that he would be a massive improvement on the current crop of players.

The Daily Mail have reported that the Canaries want £1.5million for the 30-year-old and that talks between the two clubs have been scheduled to take place this week.

Gough, who is an Ibrox legend, thinks that Dorrans’ reported affinity towards Rangers would see him prove to be a massive addition to Pedro Caixinha’s squad and has pleaded to the manager to strike up a deal for the Scottish international.

“He’s exactly the kind of player Rangers should be looking for,” said Gough, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “It’s widely accepted that the club needs better players. They need guys who will lift the team and improve on what is there.

“If he’s a Rangers supporter then that helps, too.

“I really hope Pedro gets him, I think it would be a great move for everyone.

“He could become a very important player for the club next season.”

Dorrans was born in Glasgow and began his career at Livingston before moving to West Brom where he spent seven years helping them become an established Premier League side.

The experienced playmaker moved to Norwich in 2015 and has been a steady feature in their campaign by scoring six goals in 24 appearances across all competitions this season.

Gough, 55, knows a thing or two about becoming a success at Ibrox.

He spent ten years with the Light Blues following a spell at Tottenham and was a part of the legendary squad that won nine Scottish Premiership titles in a row between 1989 and 1997.

Caixinha is expected to make big changes to his Gers squad over the summer following a dismal performance last season which saw them finish third on their return to the top-flight.
