Everton agree Sigurdsson fee – report

|

Everton have agreed a fee with Swansea for the signing of Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea this summer, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim that the Toffees have agreed to pay £25million for Premier League assist king, but personal terms have yet to be agreed.

It is reported that Sigurdsson, who is currently earning £80,000-per-week at the Liberty Stadium, is looking to earn at least £120,000-per-week if he were to move to Everton.

This £40,000-a-week difference is currently the main stumbling block to the transfer.

Manager Ronald Koeman revealed last week that he is determined to add more ‘productivity’ to his squad this summer, and the 27-year-old certainly ticks the boxes.

The Icelandic international star contributed 10 goals and 13 assists from his 40 appearances in all competitions this season, a return few Everton players could match.

Romelu Lukaku was the only player within the Toffees camp this season to supply either more goals or more assists than Sigurdsson.

Koeman has been forced to step up his interest in recent weeks amid growing interest from Everton’s Premier League rivals, including both Tottenham and Southampton.

Sigurdsson himself has revealed that he is ‘not desperate’ to quit Swansea this summer, but has left the door open to a potential move by adding it was ‘down to the club’ whether they wanted to sell him.

Nevertheless, Everton have taken big strides ahead of their rivals to win the race for one of the Premier League’s most coveted signatures, having reportedly agreed a fee.
