Fenerbahce have made contact with Aston Villa over an attempted move for Jonathan Kodjia, according to Fotospor.

The Turkish news outlet claims that the European giants want to snap up the 27-year-old for a fee worth £11.2million.

It is also understood that Fenerbahce are trying to sign Wolves star Helder Costa and have also made contact with them with bid worth just under £13million in the offing.

Aston Villa would have really struggled without Kodjia’s impact in his debut season in the West Midlands.

He signed from Bristol City last summer and scored 19 goals in 40 Championship matches and has been hailed by the Villa Park faithful for helping them steer well away from the relegation zone in what was a poor season.

The Villains splashed £11million to prise Kodjia away from Ashton Gate last summer and would only make a meagre profit of £200,000 if they wished to accept Fenerbahce’s valuation.

Steve Bruce’s striking options are limited at the moment after Libor Kozak was released and doubts over the quality of Gabriel Agbonlahor.

Aston Villa’s Championship campaign didn’t exactly go to plan as they finished 13th following their first ever relegation from the Premier League last year.

Kodjia scored 40 per cent of Villa’s goals in the league last term, proving their reliance on the Ivory Coast international.
