Forward Ross McCormack is likely to be at Aston Villa next season after holding “peace talks” with manager Steve Bruce, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The 30-year-old has had a difficult debut season at the Midlands giants after signing from Fulham in a huge £12million deal last summer.

He fell out with manager Bruce in January for “continually missing training” and he was dropped down to the reserves team before spending the second half of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest.

However, it looks like the manager and player may now have put the past behind the with the Sun’s transfer expert Nixon reporting via his personal Twitter account that the two have held talks.

“Steve Bruce and Ross McCormack have had peace talks. Player may stay now,” claimed Nixon on the social media platform

McCormack was brought to Villa by former manager Roberto Di Matteo after returning a stunning 21 goals and 10 assists in 45 Championship matches in the 2015-16 campaign.

However, last season was a big struggle for the 13-time capped Scotland international and he managed a return of just four goals and two assists in 27 outings in England’s second tier.

The experienced player who is still contracted to Villa until 2020 will be hoping for much improvement in the next campaign as Bruce and the club are aiming for promotion back to the Premier League.
