Bayern Munich and Chelsea enter race for Tottenham star Walker

|

European giants Bayern Munich and Chelsea have entered the race for Tottenham star Kyle Walker, according to a report.

The Sun have claimed on their website that Manchester City were leading the £40million chase for the Spurs 26-year-old, but they now face fierce competition from Munich and the Blues.

It is detailed that the right-back is willing to listen to offers to leave north London this summer and that Carlo Ancelotti’s team are admirers of Walker with club legend Philipp Lahm playing his final game for the side over the weekend.

It is also believed that the 25-time capped England international will be able to push his wages past the £150,000-a-week mark, which is more than double the £70,000-a-week the Daily Star reports that he earns at Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side does however have a ready made replacement for Walker in their club ranks in the form of Kieran Trippier.

The former Burnley man has been favoured in recent months and has been picked ahead of Walker to start in big games such as the north London derby, final game at White Hart Lane against Manchester United and the FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Walker, who joined Tottenham back in 2009 from Sheffield United may be bringing an end to his stay in north London after eight years.
