Tottenham are interested in signing Freiburg attacker Maximilian Philipp in the summer, according to a report.

German magazine Kicker claim that Spurs are keen on capturing the 23-year-old, who has enjoyed a fantastic season in the Bundesliga.

However, the report details that they face competition from German club RB Leipzig for his signature as they look to continue their policy of recruiting young talented players.

Philipp is a versatile attacker that has played in a variety of positions for Freiburg this season, including on both wings and in the number 10 role.

The German has played a major role in the club reaching sixth-placed in the division and has been highly effective in front of goal.

He has made just 26 appearances across all competitions this season due to a number of short-term injuries throughout the year.

However, he has still managed nine goals and five assists this campaign, making him the club’s joint-second highest goalscorer.

Philipp is yet to experience club football out of Germany and could be offered the chance of the Premier League.

Spurs may be looking to bolster their squad for next season as they look to develop on their second-placed league finish, plus they are making the temporary switch to Wembley Stadium.

Mauricio Pochettino likes to play an attacking style of football and Philipp could slot into a variety of positions in the Spurs formation.
