Tottenham are one of several clubs interested in River Plate attacker Lucas Alario, according to a report.

Argentinian newspaper Ole claim that Spurs are eyeing the 24-year-old alongside Italian club Lazio and French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

It is understood that Premier League rivals West Brom are also in the running and have made initial contact with the Argentinian side to try complete a deal.

The report details that Alario is believed to have a £15.5million release clause, which was triggered by a Chinese club.

However, the forward elected to turn down the Chinese offer in order to stay with his current side.

Spurs could enter the market for an attacker in the summer as they look to bolster their options, with six-goal forward Vincent Janssen struggling to adapt during his first season in English football.

The north London club will be hoping they can compete in both Europe and domestic competitions next season and they will be at Wembley Stadium.

Alario has emerged as a potential target and Spurs will have to win a transfer battle if they want to secure his signature.

The Argentina international has been in good form this campaign for River Plate and has scored 11 goals in just 24 appearances across all competitions.

He has become a regular scorer for his side in recent seasons and has 29 in 62 games for the Argentinian club.

Alario is yet to experience football outside of his homeland, but there have been countless examples of South American successes in Europe.
