Tottenham defender Kevin Wimmer is expected to leave the club in the summer and they are eyeing up Hull’s Harry Maguire as a replacement, according to a report.

The Daily Star claim that Wimmer, 24, is set to leave Spurs in the upcoming transfer window after making just 10 appearances this season.

It is understood that the north London club are leading the chase for Hull defender Maguire, who is also being monitored by Everton, West Brom, Southampton, West Ham and Newcastle.

The report details that Hull are hoping widespread interest in the 24-year-old will create a bidding war as they look to bank £20million for his signature.

Maguire has reportedly given no indication he wants to extend his one-year deal at the KCOM Stadium and could be set for a move following the club’s relegation from the Premier League this campaign.

The centre-back was unable to prevent Hull’s battle against relegation to the Championship, but was one of the club’s standout players.

He is recognised as a ball-playing defender and that could be something important if he was to join Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Maguire has made 36 appearances so far this campaign and could line up against Spurs on the final day of the season, where they may need to be wary of his aerial threat.

Meanwhile, Wimmer is set to move on from Spurs after failing to cement his position in the starting line-up.

The Austria international has fallen down the pecking order this season and has been unable to get in ahead of the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen.

He has made just 31 appearances during his two-year spell with the Premier League side and could now be set for an exit, despite being valued by most as a strong back-up to have in your squad.
