Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has agreed personal terms with Serie A club Napoli, according to Naples-based newspaper IL Mattino.

The report claims that Szczesny is close to a move to Napoli as Roma have decided not to offer the 27-year-old goalkeeper a permanent move to the club where he has spent the last two seasons on loan.

Brazilian keeper Alisson is being lined up to be Roma’s number one choice next season.

IL Mattino claims that league rivals Napoli have already held discussions with Szczesny’s representatives over a possible move and they have offered the Poland international a three-year deal.

It’s reported that there has been a falling out between Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis and current goalkeeper Pepe Reina which has made the club decide to make a move for Szczesny.

The newspaper reports that the Polish goalkeeper has accepted the terms and the deal will be finalised if Napoli and parent club Arsenal can on a transfer fee.

The Poland international’s last appearance for the North London side came in the 2015 FA Cup final where Arsenal defeated Aston Villa 4-0 to win the trophy.

Since then, Szczesny has spent two full seasons playing in the Serie A with Roma and he has helped the club secure a top three finish for the second consecutive campaign.

The Polish goalkeeper has been a first-team regular once again this season, making 38 league appearances and keeping 14 clean sheets in the process. Only league champions Juventus conceded fewer goals than Roma in the entire league season.

Szczesny featured in the final league game of the season on the weekend as Roma beat Genoa 3-2 in Francesco Totti’s last ever match for the club.
