Patrick Roberts has thanked all those involved with Celtic on Twitter as his loan from Manchester City is set to expire.

Roberts, 20, has been in fantastic form for Brendan Rodgers’ side this season, playing a pivotal part in the Hoops’ treble-winning campaign that saw the Glasgow outfit hold aloft the League title, Scottish Cup and League Cup.

Speaking to the Daily Mail earlier this week, the England Under-20 international has remained coy over his future, stating he wants first-team football and is unsure if he will receive that with Pep Guardiola’s side.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, the fleet-footed winger stated he will always be grateful for the Celtic players, fans and staff for their support during the 2016-17 campaign, “whatever happens”.

Roberts has starred north of the border this season, having a hand in 30 goals for Rodgers’ side during his 47 league and cup encounters.

The tricky attacker has scored 11 goals for the 48-time Scottish champions as well as laying on a huge 19 assists for his teammates, as Celtic remained unbeaten in all three competitions.

Now, Roberts is set to return for pre-season at the Etihad, although first-team opportunities are likely to be limited with Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus and new signing Bernardo Silva all vying for a first-team slot.

If Celtic do look to sign the former Fulham attacker on a permanent, it is likely they will have to stump up a large amount of cash with three years still to run on his Man City contract, although another loan might be possible.
