John Hartson has commended the work done by Brendan Rodgers on Twitter after Celtic secured a historic treble with victory over Aberdeen on Saturday.

Goals from Stuart Armstrong and Tom Rogic saw the Hoops hold aloft their 37th Scottish Cup final with a 2-1 win over Derek McInnes’ side at Hampden Park, despite Jonny Hayes’ early opener.

Former Celtic striker Hartson posted on his personal Twitter account after the full-time whistle, sending his “congratulations” to Rodgers, the staff, players and supporters following the triumph.

Hayes gave the Dons the lead in the ninth minute but Scotland international Armstrong equalised for Celtic just two minutes later, before Tom Rogic blasted home in injury time to the delight of his side’s fans.

Former Liverpool boss Rodgers has now gone the whole 2016-17 season domestically unbeaten, avoiding defeat in the Scottish Premiership, League Cup and now Scottish Cup.

The victory saw the Northern Irish manager make it six wins out of six against the Dons, who finished second place in the top tier of Scottish football.

Rodgers is now only the third manager to have completed the treble, alongside Martin O’Neill and Jock Stein and will be looking to do exactly the same next year as well as going one step further in the Champions League.

Hartson, 42, made 171 league and cup appearances for the Hoops between 2001 and 2006, scoring 109 goals after spells with West Ham, Arsenal and Wimbledon.
