Griffiths hails Celtic’s unbeaten season

Leigh Griffiths has made it clear that everyone at Celtic has contributed to their success this season and that has not gone “unnoticed”.

Brendan Rodgers side recently concluded their Scottish campaign by winning the domestic treble added with the fact that they didn’t taste a single defeat all season long.

The Bhoys secured a dramatic 2-1 win over Aberdeen last Saturday to win the Scottish Cup following their triumphs in the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup.

As a result of those feats, they only dropped points on four occasions and concluded one of the most remarkable seasons in their history.

Scotland international Griffiths, who was a backup option to Moussa Dembele this term, was full of praise for those associated with the club.

“This is better than being Player of the Year last season,” said Griffiths, as quoted by the Scotsman. “Naturally, it’s nice to win individual awards but, ultimately, football is a team game and it’s a joy to play alongside these lads.

“From Craig Gordon all the way through, we’ve all contributed something to this achievement and that hasn’t gone unnoticed.”

Over the course of the season, Griffiths played 38 games in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and supplying 15 assists for his ‘Invincibles’ side.

As a result, he helped Rodgers team win 34 of their 38 Scottish Premiership matches which meant that they recorded a remarkable 106 points, 30 points ahead of second-placed Aberdeen.

Despite huge success on the domestic scene, the Glasgow giants did struggle on the European stage and were knocked out of the group stages of the Champions League.

They finished bottom of a group that included La Liga giants Barcelona, German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach and English Premier League side Manchester City.
