Rangers have held talks with Hearts midfielder Alexandros Tziolis about a potential summer move, according to a report.

The Daily Record claim that the Gers manager Pedro Caixinha has asked the 32-year-old to make the switch to Ibrox next season.

It is understood that Caixinha spoke to the player after Rangers’ 2-1 win over Hearts and is keen on a reunion, with the pair previously working together at Panathinaikos.

The repot details that Tziolis is available for a free in the summer when his contract at Tynecastle expires.

The 63-time capped international only completed a move to Hearts in January and signed a six-month deal.

He has made a solid start to life in Scottish football and been a key figure during his 16 appearances across all competitions, completing 90 minutes on 11 occasions.

Rangers are set for a busy transfer window in the summer as they look to improve their squad and get closer to comfortable champions Celtic.

Caixinha has eyed defensive midfielder Tziolis as a player that can help his Gers squad and he would be able to add some extra fight in the centre of the park.

He is an experienced campaigner that has played in European competitions and should be able to bolster Rangers’ options.

The Light Blues look set for a third-placed finish on their return to the top flight and will need considerable improvements to their squad if they are to challenge for the league.
