Mark Warburton took quite the hiatus from Twitter following his acrimonious exit from Rangers in February – and their fans certainly haven’t forgot about him.

The 54-year-old became the new Nottingham Forest manager in March and hadn’t posted anything since early January.

However new contracts for both Chris Cohen and David Vaughan suggest that Warburton has awoken from his social media slumber by posting positive verdicts on the news.

He may regret his return though as he was instantly bombarded with message from Rangers fans who seem to still be sour about the way he left Ibrox – and many want him to re-sign some of the players he bought at Ibrox including Martyn Waghorn.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Rangers struggled following Warburton’s departure and endured a month-long search to replace him.

Pedro Caixinha was the surprise successor to the former Brentford boss and he has since found it hard to make use of the players that were left behind.

At Forest, Warburton helped the Reds avoid relegation to League One, but did so by the skin of their teeth.

The East Midlands outfit could have gone down on the last day but a 3-0 win over Ipswich saw them seal survival to the detriment of former Premier League champions Blackburn.

His club have recently undergone a change of ownership with Greek tycoon Evangelos Marinakis, who also owns Olympiakos, purchasing the Reds from the controversial Fawaz Al Hasawi.
