Wolves hope to unveil Santo this week

Wolves are hoping to unveil Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager this week, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper has claimed in it’s live blog on Sunday afternoon (4.58pm) that the Midlands giants are hoping to announce that the 43-year-old will take charge of their club for the next campaign in the next seven days.

It is detailed that current boss Paul Lambert will be axed by owners Fosun, who are being advised by Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes.

Santo is one of Mendes’ clients and is available after leaving European giants Porto earlier in the month following a second placed finish in the Portuguese top-flight.

It is also claimed that Santo himself is ready for the switch to England after holding successful talks with the Wolves hierarchy.

If appointed Santo will become the third manager Fosun have appointed since taking charge of Wolves last summer.

Their first appointment Walter Zenga turned out to be a bit of a disaster and he lost his job in less than three months at the club following just four wins from Wolves’ first 14 Championship fixtures and an 18th placing.

Lambert had since secured the club’s safety with the Midlands team finishing in 15th place and seven points off the drop zone and the team will now be looking to make further progress up the Championship table.
