Leicester are looking to snap up Hull centre-back Harry Maguire ahead of Tottenham, according to a report the Mirror.

The newspaper has claimed on it’s website that the 24-year-old is attracting the Premier League duo with the Foxes said to be offering bigger wages than Spurs in a bid to secure his signature.

Maguire has been one of the standout performers for the Hull side which suffered relegation from the English top-flight this year.

He competed in 29 league matches for the Tigers this season, occupying both the centre-back and right-back roles through the campaign.

It also showed how important he was to the side on Sunday as Marco Silva’s team fell to their heaviest defeat of the campaign after Tottenham ran out 7-1 victors on the final day.

Maguire has now also entered the final year of his contract and he is unlikely to extend it after Hull suffered relegation to the Championship.

This means the Tigers are expected to cash in on the player they brought in from Sheffield United in the summer of 2014 for a fee of £2.5million.

Tottenham finished 10 places and 42 points ahead of Leicester this season and Maguire could still take that into account rather than money, which would put put Spurs firmly in the lead for his signature.

However, in north London he would also be tasked with the job of ousting club stars Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen rather than the experienced Wes Morgan and Robert Huth
