Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will “drive a hard bargain” as he prepares to negotiate the sale of defender Kyle Walker, according to ESPN FC.

The report claims that Manchester City are determined to bring the 26-year-old to right-back to Etihad Stadium in the summer and that they are ready to pay a fee in the region of £45million for the player.

ESPN state that Spurs are reluctantly considering cashing in on Walker as they feel they already have a ready-made replacement in Trippier.

Right-back Walker recently posted a cryptic Instagram message where he said “thank you” to the club’s supporters, with the words posted in a large font accompanied by pictures of the player.

It is said that City are in the market for a right-sided defender after the departures of Bacary Sagna and Pablo Zabaleta and they believe they are in pole position for Walker’s signature despite interest from other clubs.

Walker started the season as Mauricio Pochettinio’s number one right-back but towards the back end of the campaign, he lost his place to Keiran Trippier.

The England international started only four of the club’s last ten league matches added with the fact that he was left on the bench for the FA Cup semi-final defeat against Chelsea in April.

Walker has four-years left on his current deal at White Hart Lane after he signed a contract extension last September.

He played 39 games in all competitions for Pochettino’s side this season, including 33 Premier League matches, helping the club secure back-to-back Champions League places.
