Liverpool have made a move to beat Manchester United to the signing of winger Ivan Perisic, according to a report.

Croatian news outlet 24Sata claim the Merseysiders have tabled a bid of £30.5million for the powerful Inter Milan wide man.

It is said that Serie A giants Inter have rejected Liverpool’s huge offer as they believe it does not match their valuation of the in-demand Croatia international.

It has been widely speculated in recent days that United are making a strong push to sign Perisic during the forthcoming transfer window.

24Sata report that the Manchester club are confident of winning the race for the 28-year-old after Sky Sports Italy reported during the weekend they have also offered £30.5million for him.

Inter are said to be holding out for £48million for Perisic on the back of an eyecatching season in which he scored 11 league goals and supplied nine others from 36 Serie A fixtures.

Perisic is well known to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who brought the wide midfielder to his former club Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2011.

The Croatian was sold to Wolfsburg two years later after scoring 12 goals in 64 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

Inter are able to demand a huge fee for Perisic given his pedigree and the fact he has a contract at San Siro that runs until the summer of 2020.
