Everton have been installed odds-on favourites to sign Swansea assist king Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet priced the Merseyside club at 1/3 on Wednesday morning to prise the Iceland international from the Liberty Stadium before the closure of the forthcoming window.
This is a considerable drop in the odds on the transfer, as Everton were 5/6 to land the player regarded as Swansea’s prize asset earlier in May.
Cash-rich Everton are well ahead of the next placed club in the betting, with his former club Tottenham at 7/1, followed by West Ham (12/1), Newcastle (14/1) and Southampton (16/1).
The change in the betting comes after a Mirror report that the Toffees have agreed a fee of £25million with Swansea to sign Sigurdsson but personal terms have yet to be settled.
It is said that the Icelandic is holding out for a £40,000-a-week pay rise, that will lift his salary from £80,000-a-week to£120,000-a-week.
Sigurdsson has had an outstanding campaign, scoring nine goals and supplying 13 assists from 38 Premier League matches.
Only Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City has provided more assists in the Premier League in 2017-18 with his tally of 16.
