Everton are the second favourites to sign Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to the latest bookmakers odds.
Sky Bet have priced the Merseyside club at 5/1 to land the 30-year-old Denmark international before the summer transfer window shuts.
The Toffees are currently ahead of a couple of Premier League clubs who are also interested in signing Leicester’s number one with Manchester City placed at 6/1 and Merseyside rivals Liverpool placed at 11/1.
Ronald Koeman’s side are the second favourites behind Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United who are currently 2/1 to secure Schmeichel’s signature this summer.
Everton have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and they conceded 44 goals in the entire Premier League season – the worst defensive record amongst the teams who finished in the top seven.
The Danish goalkeeper was the star at the club’s annual end of season awards ceremony as he was named the Player of the season by the Leicester fans and he also picked up the Players’ Player of the season trophy.
Schmeichel played an instrumental part in Leicester’s Champions League journey this season as he saved two penalties in the round of 16 tie against Sevilla, which helped the Foxes progress to the quarter-final stage for the first time in their history.
Schmeichel made 41 appearances for Leicester in all competitions this season, keeping 13 clean sheets in the process.
The Dane won his first ever Premier League title with Leicester during the 2015-16 campaign.
