West Ham have submitted a bid for Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the 20-year-old has left Nigeria’s training camp in Paris and took a return flight to Manchester on Saturday evening as he looks to sort out his future.

The transfer race for the £20million-rated attacker is now beginning to hot up with Everton, Leicester, Southampton and West Brom all claimed to also have an interest in the young forward.

Iheanacho played 29 games in all competitions for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, scoring seven goals and supplying three assists.

He also played three Champions League matches for City, with Iheanacho finding the back of the net on two occasions during those encounters.

After the arrival of Gabriel Jesus in January, Iheanacho only made one more league start for the club, with Sergio Aguero’s presence also playing its part in his lack of game time.

That perhaps indicates that his time at the Etihad is over, but the report does state that City want to insert a buy-back option in any transfer that takes place.

Belgium international Romelu Lukaku has been Everton’s top marksman this season, scoring 25 league goals for Ronald Koeman’s side, but his future is in doubt.

Lukaku revealed in March that he will not sign a new contract with the club, which has intensified rumours that he could be heading for the exit door this summer.

If that scenario were to occur then it would make it highly likely that Koeman would look for another attacking option this summer.
