Spanish outfit Deportivo La Coruna are preparing a £17.5million bid for want-away Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, according to a Sun report.

The newspaper claims the 28-year-old has told Gunners manager Arsene Wenger that he wants to leave the North Londoners this summer.

It is said Deportivo “have readied” a bid of £17.5million to bring their former front man back to his former club, but they hope to sign him for closer to £12million.

Perez has failed to make an impact at the Emirates this term following his £17million move last summer, starting just two Premier League games.

He has made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring seven goals, but has not featured since the 5-0 FA Cup thrashing of Lincoln in March.

The Spaniard was in prime form for Deportivo in the 2015/16 campaign, scoring 17 goals and providing 10 assists in 36 La Liga games.

The report states the 28-year-old wants to return to Estadio Riazor next term and hopes to re-find his previous form in order to push for a place in his nation’s squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Perez has never been capped by Spain before, for the senior squad or the age-group teams.

His previous clubs include PAOK, Dynamo Kyiv, Karpaty Lviv and Rayo Vallecano.
