There is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp needs to add depth and quality to his Liverpool squad ahead of what will be a gruelling 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

One area in which he should target is the left-back position. Hull City defender Andrew Robertson recently suffered relegation to the Championship with his Yorkshire team.

Here are three reasons why the Reds should swoop for the highly-talented player:

Typical modern day full-back – Robertson has consistently shown that he can attack and defend in equal measures. This will suit Jurgen Klopp’s style because he needs players that can provide the threat from the middle of the park and from out wide. Adding Robertson to the Liverpool team would ensure that would happen. There have even been times when the Scotsman has played as a left-midfielder because of his ability to get forward and deliver a dangerous cross.

Experienced in the Premier League – Despite Hull suffering relegation to the second tier of English football, Robertson was one of their standout performers. The 23-year-old was a constant threat on the left-hand side, particularly, under the stewardship of Marco Silva. During his career, Robertson has played 57 games in the Premier League, 36 matches in the Scottish Premiership as well as earning 14 caps on the international stage. This is proof that he is now experienced enough and ready to show what he can produce at a higher level.

Miles better than Moreno – Wherever Robertson plays next season, there is no doubt that he is miles better than Liverpool’s backup left-back option Alberto Moreno. Robertson can attack, and more importantly, defend better than the Spaniard. Klopp needs to move first-team regular James Milner into a more advanced role and use Robertson as his key first-team player. Added to that, it will also give him the chance to sell Moreno in the summer.
