Arsenal are set to rival Manchester City in the race to sign Dinamo Zagreb youngster David Colina, according to a Mirror report.

The newspaper claims the 16-year-old left-back is one of the hottest young talents in Europe, and is is also attracting potential suitors from Spain, Germany and Italy.

The Croatian starlet is yet to feature for Zagreb’s first team, but he is a highly-regarded in their Under-17s set-up and it is said his club do not want to sell him.

He has featured 23 times for Croatia Under-17s, scoring once in his most recent appearance for the side, in a 1-1 draw with Spain at the European Under-17 Championships earlier this month.

Arsene Wenger is looking to strengthen his defensive options this summer as Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs have failed to impress this term.

Arsenal missed out on the Champions League places this season as they finished a disappointing fifth in the Premier League.

However, they did secure their third FA Cup in four seasons on Saturday, as they beat league champions Chelsea 2-1 at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola is also aiming to bolster his squad this summer ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, after finishing third this season.

Pablo Zabaleta has already departed to West Ham, and Gael Clichy’s contract at the Etihad runs out at the end of June, so he too needs to bring some new defenders to the club.
