Dan Barlaser’s representatives have offered the Newcastle midfielder to Besiktas, according to Turkish website Fotospor.

Barlaser is managed by agency SEG and their agent Kees Vos has contacted the Turkish club over a potential move that would see the central midfielder join Besiktas on loan next season.

It is believed that the 20-year-old does not want to leave St. James’ Park on a permanent basis in the summer, even though he is unlikely to be given much of an opportunity following the Toon’s promotion.

Benitez is likely to give preference to first-team midfield options Jonjo Shelvey, Jack Colback and Mohamed Diame next season, who he relied upon in the middle of the park during the 2016-17 season.

Besiktas are said to be open to the move for Newcastle’s number 35, with manager Senol Gunes keen to bring him to the Vodafone Arena alongside the likes of Ryan Babel, Ricardo Quaresma and Demba Ba.

Barlaser made his professional debut this season for Rafa Benitez’s side back in January in a 3-1 FA Cup victory over Birmingham, before making his second senior appearance in the loss to Oxford.

Despite being given limited game time, Barlaser has been a prominent figure in peter Beardsley’s reserve side, clocking up 22 appearances and even finding the back of the net against Swansea’s second string.

Born in Gateshead, Barlaser has links to Turkey and played for their Under-17 side before reverting to play for England’s Under-18’s back in 2015.

With a contract until the summer of 2020, Barlaser could now be set to leave the Toon in order to prove to manager Benitez that he is capable of being trusted in the first team.
