Leeds are set to battle Bristol City for Exeter City attacker Ollie Watkins, according to a report.

Somerset Live claim that the two Championship clubs are interested in signing the 21-year-old, while English giants Arsenal and Manchester United have also watched the duo.

It is understood that Bristol City manager Lee Johnson watched Exeter’s recent match and was rumoured to be scouting Watkins.

The report details that Lead are set to rival them for his signature as Garry Monk is keen to bolster his attacking options for next season, with wide players Hadi Sacko, Mo Barrow and Alfonso Pedraza all leaving Elland Road after their loan spells.

Watkins has been in outstanding form for League Two side Exeter this season and has taken his side to the play-offs, where they face Carlisle United on Sunday in the first leg of their semi-finals.

The youngster has become a crucial first team player since graduating from the club’s academy.

He is a versatile attacker that plays predominately as a central striker, but can be used in the wide areas if needed.

Watkins has been tearing up the league this season and been in great form in front of goal.

The Englishman has made 49 appearances so far across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and supplying 12 assists in return.

Leeds would be asking Watkins to make a considerable step up to the Championship if they secure his services, but the youngster is a highly rated talents.

The Yorkshire giants just missed out on a play-off spot this season as they finished seventh and were too reliant on main goalscorer Chris Wood throughout the campaign.
