Gary Monk to sign Leeds contract extension on Friday

|

Andrea Radrizzani has told Yorkshire Evening Post Chief writer Phil Hay that he will activate the 12-month extension clause in manager Garry Monk’s contract on Friday.

There has been a lot of speculation in regards to the future of the Yorkshire giants’ boss with his current deal set to expire this summer.

However, after achieving a seventh place finish with Leeds this season many supporters are keen to see the club tie up Monk to a new long-term deal to prevent him from leaving.

It would now seem as though the fans will get their wishes with Hay reporting on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday evening that Radrizzani has told him Leeds will seal the landmark deal on Friday and will then talk about a new longer term contract after the two have got to “know each other.”

Radrizzani seizedĀ full control of Leeds on Tuesday after purchasing the rest of the 50 per cent from the controversial Massimo Cellino.

His main goal will be to return the club to the Premier League and after a seventh place finish Monk will certainly feel confident he can lead the team back to the top-flight.

The manager has been in charge of the Yorkshire giants for almost a year now and it is clear than supporters want to see him back out on the touchlines for the next campaign.
