Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele will miss the upcoming friendly in Hong Kong, it was announced on Monday morning.

Spurs confirmed on their official website that the 29-year-old will miss the post-season fixture against Kitchee SC in Hong Kong.

The Belgium international is set to “undergo a planned procedure” on his left foot this week and is expected to return in time for pre-season training.

He has been a crucial player for the north London club this season, but has rarely been able to complete 90 minutes.

Dembele has had an ongoing injury with his left foot and will now hope his surgery can help resolve his issue in time for next season.

Mauricio Pochettino has still named a strong first team squad for their friendly game in Hong Kong, as cited by the club’s official Twitter account.

They will be in good spirits following their impressive end to the season as they knocked a combined total of 13 goals past Leicester and Hull in their final two away games.

Spurs finished the season second in the Premier League table and with 86 points, which was seven adrift of champions Chelsea.

Dembele was an ever-present in the midfield and struck up a strong partnership alongside Mousa Dembele, while Eric Dier was equally solid when used in that position.

The box-to-box midfielder has become an integral player following his arrival in 2012 and is a firm fan favourite.
