Marcus Antonsson has revealed that his focus is still on Leeds despite being linked with a move back Sweden.

Swedish outlet Fotboll Direkt have reported that top-flight clubs in Sweden are interested in signing the 26-year-old in the summer.

The forward has endured a frustrating first season at Elland Road and has been on the fringes of the Whites squad since his £2million move from Swedish club Kalmar FF.

He has found himself being 30-goal hero Chris Wood throughout the campaign and was unable to force his way into Garry Monk’s plans.

However, Antonsson has stated that he is still focused on the Yorkshire club and wants to prove himself abroad, but at a later date could return to his homeland Sweden.

“It’s a sign that you have done something good. Of course it is flattering when Allsvenskan big clubs want you,” Antonsson told Fotboll Direkt. “I have grown up with the headlines and love the league, so of course it is flattering. But my focus is still on Leeds, and I know I’m far from done abroad.

“I love the [Swedish] Premier League so of course you want to do it sometime. And I have things to do there, too, I have not won the top scorer yet.”

Antonsson made just 21 appearances this season across all competitions and scored three goals in return.

The forward got just eight minutes of action in the Championship during 2017 and is considered unlucky by some fans to be so far out of the picture.

Leeds narrowly missed out on a Championship play-off position at the end of the season and the belief is that they were lacking a real back-up for Wood, but Antonsson failed to get the opportunity to show his talents.

He has proved elsewhere that he can be prolific in front of goal and his best spell came at Swedish club Kalmar FF.

Antonsson managed 25 goals in just 47 appearances across all competitions and will be hoping to recapture that form in England next season.
