Antonio agrees new West Ham deal

West Ham attacker Michail Antonio has agreed a new long-term deal with the club, it was announced on Thursday afternoon.

The Hammers confirmed on their official website that the 27-year-old has signed a new four-year contract to stay at the London Stadium.

The winger has become a huge favourite since his arrival from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and was recently named the club’s Hammer of the Year.

Antonio is now under contract with the Londoners until the summer of 2021 and has expressed his delight at committing his future.

“It’s about time, eh!” Antonio said. “I’m only joking! I’m over the moon, I’ve loved my time here and I’m just happy that we have managed to get things sorted so I can move onto next season and do what I’ve done this season.”

Antonio has been the outstanding West Ham player this season in what has been a difficult year following their move to the London Stadium.

The Englishman has filled in as a make-shift right-back when required under Slaven Bilic, but is mainly recognised for his attacking work.

The right winger has made 37 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring nine goals and supplying five assists.

His incredible work-rate has made him an ever-present in the West Ham starting line-up and his aerial ability makes him a nightmare for opponents.

West Ham will be looking to get back into the European spots for next year and it appears like Antonio will be integral to the club’s plans in the near future.
