Rangers winger Barrie McKay has turned down the offer of a new contract.

According to a report in The Daily Mail the 22-year-old has knocked back the offer of a two year extension with his current deal running until June 2018.

McKay’s Ibrox career looked over under Ally McCoist when he was sent out on loan to Morton and Raith Rovers but the arrival of Mark Warburton revived the player who has been at Ibrox all his days.

Under Warburton he was one of the stars of last season’s promotion win but has found life in the top flight more demanding with Rangers struggling to live up to expectations.

With one season left on his contract McKay will be 23 at the end of his deal and able to quit Ibrox without any compensation fee.

New Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha would like to see a new deal agreed but if nothing is sorted before the summer it’s likely that they winger will be sold in a cut price deal.
