Saints want Sigurdsson

|

Southampton are keen to bring Gylfi Sigurdsson to St Mary’s.

According to a report on NBS Sports the Swansea striker could be on his way to the south coast if the Welsh club are relegated.

Sigurdsson has scored eight Premier League goals this season despite Swansea currently sitting third bottom and is almost certain to quit the club if they are relegated to the Championship.

That sort of goal threat from a wide position would be very welcome at Southampton who have slipped off the pace since the turn of the year with Claude Puel looking for more goal options next term.

On a personal level Sigurdsson is happy with his move to Swansea after two seasons at Spurs but still has strong ambitions at club level that Southampton could fulfil.

Everton and West Ham have also been linked with the 27-year-old who was one of Iceland’s heroes at the 2016 European Championship Finals in France.
