Southampton have joined the chase to sign Henry Onyekuru.

According to a report in The Sun, the Eupen striker is being watched by Southampton with a view to an end of season bid.

Celtic were the first UK club to be linked with Onyekuru but with West Brom and Liverpool on the scene the Scottish champions won’t be able to compete in terms of wages.

The 19-year-old scored the goals that earned Eupen promotion last season and has continued to find the net in the top flight with 12 goals in 28 matches.

After a fall out with his club during the January transfer window it is believed that a deal to move on at the end of the season has been agreed.

Any issues over a work permit should be cleared after two years working in Belgium with the main decision to be taken by Onyekuru being to select the club most likely to give him regular first team football.
