United close the door to Real’s de Gea deal

|

Manchester United will resist any attempts from Real Madrid to sign David de Gea.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, United are on alert for any attempts by Real to cash in on reports of friction between the keeper and Jose Mourinho.

Real are determined to sign a top class keeper this summer and came close to getting de Gea in 2015 but were denied by paperwork problems.

Having secured the keeper onto a deal that runs until 2019 United won’t entertain any offer from Real with the incentive of knowing that their fallback option is to go for Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois.

Rumours of a rift between de Gea and Mourinho surfaced on Sunday when the keeper was missing from the United side that won at Sunderland.

A minor injury was reported as the cause of the absence with Sergio Romeru continuing to keep goal against Anderlecht in Thursday’s Europa League.
