Manchester United are ready to meet the €100 million (£84m) asking price to sign Andrea Belotti.

According to a report in Metro the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic has forced United to step up their bid for the Torino striker.

Belotti has scored an incredible 25 goals in 29 appearances this season despite Torino sitting in mid table and well out of contention for a place in Europe.

When the 23-year-old signed a new contract before Christmas Torino thought that they were fairly safe with the get out clause but such is Belotti’s form that the fee is no longer an obstacle.

With Ibrahimovic out for the rest of the year and no definite sign that Antoine Griezmann is interested in leaving Atletico Madrid Jose Mourinho could be facing a real striking crisis in the summer.

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Belotti but United’s need to bring in fresh firepower is likely to win the race.
