Manchester City are set to make a summer move for Leonardo Bonucci.

According to a report in the Manchester Evening News the Juventus defender is the player that Pep Guardiola wants to team up with John Stones.

City enquired about Bonucci last summer but were given no encouragement from the Italian side.

The relationship between the player and his coach, Max Allegri has gone downhill with a parting of the ways expected in the summer.

With Juve on course for another title win it won’t be Allegri quitting Turin with the player valued in the £50m bracket.

City paid that for Stones and are prepared to pay that figure again to bring in a top class defender to organise the side as well as make his own impact.

Pep Guardiola is keen to bring in an Italian style stopper with 29-year-old Bonucci fitting the bill perfectly as City prepare to mount a serious challenge in England and also the Champions League.
