Everton haven’t given up hope of signing Virgil van Dijk.

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo the Southampton defender is still in the sight’s of Ronald Koeman.

Chelsea and Manchester City have been strongly linked with Van Dijk who has also caught the attention of Paris St Germain and Inter Milan.

Koeman signed the Dutchman for Southampton and hopes that their season together at St Mary’s can influence his choice of clubs.

Despite being out with a long term ankle injury there is no shortage of interest in the defender who was signed from Celtic for £10m in 2015.

Van Dijk signed a new six year contract at the end of last season but if an offer comes in over £50m it will be difficult for Southampton to turn down.

While Chelsea and Manchester City can offer Champions League football Koeman is hopeful that the personal connection can influence the defender to opt for Goodison.
