Crystal Palace are preparing an offer for Glen Johnson.

According to a report in The Sun, Sam Allardyce is ready to make an offer for the Stoke City defender who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Johnson has fallen short of the number of appearances needed to trigger an automatic extension to his Stoke deal but won’t be short of offers from elsewhere.

West Ham have already been credited with an interest in the 32-year-old who started his career with the Hammers but Palace are also keen on an offer to take Johnson back to London.

Allardyce had a difficult time in the January transfer window but is determined to move early as soon as Palace secure their Premier League status.

Johnson will be 33 at the start of next season, with almost 350 Premier League appearances to his name he would fit in easily with Allardyce’s plans for Palace.
