Arsenal have been given encouragement in their bid to sign Lorenzo Insigne.

According to talkSPORT discussions over a new contract have broken down with Napoli.

Insigne has scored 14 goals this season in Serie A and is looking for a new deal that reflects his contribution to the side and which brings him into line with the other top earners.

Napoli are keen to get the 25-year-old signed up onto a new deal but won’t match his £3.4m/year wage demands or 50% split on image rights.

Arsenal are looking to freshen their squad up over the summer with a number of key players out of contract in June 2018 as well as the uncertainty over Arsene Wenger’s future.

Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain could all move on from the Emirates with the club looking to bring in quality players like Insigne regardless of whether those players stay on or move elsewhere.
