Chelsea will have to find another £8m if they are to sign Claudio Marchisio.
According to a report in The Sun, Antonio Conte has had a £17m bid for the Juventus midfielder knocked back with the Italian side holding out for £25m.
Marchisio has spent most of the season on the bench at Juventus but the Serie A champions aren’t prepared to give him a way in a cut price deal.
The 31-year-old has spent his entire career at Juventus and enjoyed a great relationship with Conte when he was in charge of the Turin side.
With Champions League football assured for next season the Chelsea boss wants to ensure that he has quality as well as strength in depth for the demands of next season.
Juventus are expected to strengthen during the summer which is likely to push Marchisio further down the pecking order with the opportunity to move to London bound to appeal.
