Chelsea are considering a move for David Stockdale.
According to a report in The Mirror the out of contract Brighton keeper is being viewed as a replacement for Asmir Begovic who will quit the club in the summer in search of first team football.
Stockdale has been a big factor in Brighton’s promotion to the Premier League but now faces a big dilemma.
Chelsea would be able to offer him the biggest financial package but a new deal at Brighton will almost certainly offer him the chance to start next season in the top division after three seasons in The Championship.
The 31-year-old has resisted offers to renew his contract and is now in the position to independently assess a number of options with Leeds and Middlesbrough already making enquiries.
Chelsea were strongly linked with Celtic’s Craig Gordon during the January window but the Scotland keeper has since signed a new long term contract for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
